Confirmation: upgrade inventory is different to fresh booking redemption inventory
Dear Flyertalkers,
After reading many varying responses from both sides of the fence, I just wanted to confirm from personal disappointing experience (and confirmed just now by two different SQ supervisors), that if a route shows available saver redemption inventory on the website, it does not mean that the same flights will be available as an upgrade redemption upon booking a paid commercial ticket. The supervisor stated that upgrade redemptions and full ticket saver redemptions are no longer from the same inventories and that there was no longer a way to know if an upgrade is available before purchasing a paid commercial ticket.
Thought this could be helpful for some of you to know, from my personal experience today.
