I am not certain how BA do their session management but it is quite likely that they are using cookies. If you log in to the website and then completely exit the browser and open it up again and browse to BA.com it should see the cookie and determine whether it has timed out or not. If you login, quit the browser and start it again within a short period of time it
should not require you to log in again. I just tested this and it worked as expected for me.
It's possible that your browser is set to delete cookies on exit. If so, the session management will not work because you're telling the browser to remove the information on which it relies for session management.

ThatT1Feeling says above, once the cookie times out you will be required to log in again which is standard practice.
