JAL seems to have Magic 5 and 6, looks very dated, slow, slow touchscreen and all the Eng content is subtitled. I love Japanese movies so will likely watch that but one of the nice things on long flights is getting to watch the latest movies that arent out on dvd yet. On the other airlines the selection is amazing.
For the main content, it is only subtitled if you select to have it with subtitles. Some of the older content does indeed not come with a choice. The selction is indeed not particularly wide, do 2-3 long haul journeys per month with JAL and you learn to have some extra content along.
