I think it’s a bit unfair to say this is just another round of cost cutting. To be clear, this is a third champagne that is being added, as part of a bi-monthly rotation of different grower champagnes. I’m all for trying something new and different to the big brands.
Krug and Taittinger CdC will still remain, and as far as I’m aware, they do not have galley space constraints in First Class or Suites like they do in Business Class.
Yes, I agree it is younger than optimal, but as other posters have indicated, demand for champagne is outstripping supply so for airlines it is difficult to get the large quantities they need, even if they’re upping what they are paying.
