On my last two visits to Hong Kong in January and February 2020, I thought the credit card acceptance rate isn't as high as in the US. I would say most mid to high-end places accept Visa and MC. Most likely AMEX of it's a Western hotel. It seems like a lot of budget restaurants accept either cash or the Octopus card. Maybe I'm missing a few other categories. Have anything changed? I really don't want to get HKD if I don't have to. I would prefer to get by strictly with my credit cards.
