nice theory, except in reality the departure routing generally dictates which runway the flight will use

regardless of whether I’m flying AS (T6) or DL (T2/T3), my LAX-SEA flights almost invariably depart from 24L on the north side of the airport before making a right turn to cross the coastline near Malibu

if I’m going LAX-NYC/WAS, the flights will most often use 25R on the south side and make a 180-degree turn to the left, passing west and then south of Palos Verdes before “feet dry” over Seal Beach
