Even though I haven't finished my trip, I must say that I'm disappointed in the level of execution seen throughout the KL properties (minus the Westin). This is not Thailand, Japan, and Korea - that's for sure. Breakfasts especially have been disappointing in the quality offered, and some of the staff interactions have been exceedingly unhelpful. It's a shame - the country is beautiful. The Westin sure was a reprieve, though even its breakfast had room for improvement in quality.
I like Malaysia but the Marriotts in Malaysia are ten notches below the ones on Thailand. Maybe more. That's one reason my tourist dollars go to Thailand 3-6 times a year while Malaysia is once every 5 yrs.
I might actually prefer KL in some ways to BKk but the hotels are simply not destinations in themselves. Many in BKK I just rest in the hotel all day long - SGS, pa. Even the Le Meridien, Westin and ROS in BKK are better than the ones in KL.
Korea? I'm not a big fan of any of the properites. None Terrible but none amazing. I don't know Japan well enough to comment
It's time for you to try China which aside from perhaps Thailand have the best Marriotts and Hyatts in the world in my experience
