Woodspring is certainly a low-level, extended stay chain. Note that although under the Choice umbrella, it is neither a redemption or earnings participant in the Choice Privileges program nor an option when you search for accommodations through the Choice website. I have stayed at a Woodspring in Winter Park, Florida, but the location was as low rent as can be imagined (across the street from a concrete plant, around the corner from a steel beam fabrication facility) with a clientele that mostly sought the cheapest available hotel option. I was staying by myself and although I had no problems, I wouldn't have taken anyone else there as my guest. And on the weekends, there was the occasional police presence in the parking lot.

Everything was clean but the atmosphere was depressing--dim lights, industrial metal doors, thin sheets on the beds, a mattress that was maybe six inches thick on top of a frame with metal springs (not a box spring base, just metal springs attached to the base). Breakfast is not an advertised option and while you could make meals there, I just found it better to have my meals outside the hotel.

Woodspring meets a market, but I think almost all folks here on FT would find that the intended market is well outside of the range of their expectations. Sort of like flying Ryanair or Spirit but even those airlines deliver a product that's much better than the Woodsprings I've seen.
