I recently booked a 2024 award ticket from Singapore to Shanghai on the A380 to experience the double bed suites. Interestingly, I got an email last night saying my seats have been changed, and after looking into the details, I realized that the plane was changed into a 777. Seems like the aircraft type has been changed for other 2024 dates on this route as well, which suggests that the A380s have been dropped from the Singapore to Shanghai route.

I tried contacting customer service to see if I could change into a different A380 flight to Hong Kong instead, but the rep was adamant that there’s no award availability even though the seats are still open.

Has anyone experienced this type of situation where the plane type changed after booking? Not sure what I should do at this point…certainly would prefer the suites, but I reckon it’s a bit of a first world problem since we’re still left with the 777 first class after the change.
