My biggest issue with visiting MNL and surrounds as a non-Filipino is the very poor public transport in the city.

Alas I am now longer PAL Elite, so will be back to sitting in the public areas of the terminal.
Get a Priority Pass. The PAGS lounges are fairly decent especially the International one.
