Haha, for the money we found the HI & Suites Shin Osaka very decent. We had one of the larger King Suite ones and it had washer and dryer (which we were looking for) as well a kitchenette and such. For something like 20k JPY (with a global corporate rate discount) it did the trick though it is not right beside Shin Osaka as the name may suggest. All depends the location one needs and how good one is with public transport and all.
As far as the voco goes, maybe Raynyan can share some thoughts if he stayed there already. For our trip in fall, we'll be at the IC again, but it certainly helps that our corporate rate is very reasonable versus today's regular rates.
I'll wait for the reviews at voco, I'm still 1 month out before I stay there. My corporate rate doesn't work at all in the 3 properties in Osaka, works fine in tokyo and I get a good rate but not in osaka. I figured the HI wasn't that close to the station when the website mentioned that they will reimburse you 1000 yen for a cab ride from the station with receipt.... haha but that washing machine is what's drawing me there. I've been anti-Airbnb after my last 2 bad experiences and we usually book an Airbnb to have easy access to laundry. I guess IC Osaka has the residences but without a corporate discount, it's just too much to justify for myself. I'm at IC Beppu and this was enough splurging, the IC Osaka prices are even higher.
