You seem to be focused on round-trip bookings. Any particular reason for that? Why not book:
  • PNR #1: all 4 pax outbound on 1345
    • Have Concierge monitor your inbound and re-book you (split PNR) to the later flight if need be
  • PNR #2: grandpa's return
  • PNR #3: you + kids return

If you're not checking bags and you're coming in on AC, 95 minutes is definitely not risk-free, but it's solidly above the 70-minute MCT that would apply if you booked this as one ticket. If you can just head straight to US connections, you'll avoid CBSA and save some time. Historically, AC had an internal policy to protect passengers on AC-AC separate tickets as long as they met MCT. I'm not 100% sure whether that still exists, but if you're SE, Concierge might help you out as a goodwill gesture even if it's no longer policy.
