It is exactly for this reason that I will never step foot in the Ocean Park Marriott again. I hate hotels that use ridiculous reasons to deny any Elite benefits. They denied me late checkout even before they designated themselves as a "resort", and forced me, as a Platinum at that time, to checkout at 11am.
Sorry to hear that. I was given an upgrade to a suite and offered a 4 PM checkout before it became a resort. This was in early 2020.
