Just chiming in to echo the great reviews for this hotel. We stayed for 3 nights last September, in the same Aria Suite room as Lanier in post no. 10. The room was very nice and spacious. We really enjoyed the hotel, which is in an excellent location in a very charming town. While Lucca itself is delightful, it’s just a half-hour train ride to Pisa, which makes an easy day trip. I wouldn’t count on upgrades in September, though - we booked the room (for cash, not points) many months (9 or 10) in advance, and the Aria Suites sold out quickly.

The train from Florence to Lucca is just a commuter train, hot, crowded and with little room for luggage. It was so unpleasant we altered our plans and booked a driver for our transfer to Siena, and would do the same from Florence next time. While the train to Pisa is the same kind of train, it was less crowded and much easier for a day trip than with luggage.
