Dulles TSA (precheck) hasnt taken boarding passes for some time now. The have a cover over the scanner. Just ID and go when it beeps. I've been to a few more lately that are like that. In Clear, its just a "show boarding pass" (ie, hold up phone to the TSA agent for a glance) and move along.
