Occasionally there is an inquiry about the same day baggage delivery service. However, hold your horses, this is a very limited-service JR East is starting. The information is posted in Japanese but did not find English announcement, yet.

JR East same day delivery service (PDF in Japanese)

JR East will start the same day baggage delivery service at Niigata station in June 1 and Morioka station in June 16. Yes, only these two locations to start with. Baggage delivery destination is hotels in Tokyo 23 wards and Urayasu City, Chiba (i.e., Tokyo Disneyland).

Baggage will be accepted at:
Niigata station baggage service counter between 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Morioka station Eki-Tabi Concierge between 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Baggage sum of total dimension has to be 160 cm or less and weight 30 kg or less. Baggage will be delivered to hotels in Tokyo 23 wards or Urayasu City, Chiba by 6:00 p.m. same day. The fee is 2500 yen per baggage. The service is limited to Shinkansen passengers heading to Tokyo.

JR East is hoping to expand the same day baggage delivery service.
