I guess if the lounge staff had said that the OP was not permitted access due to lack of capacity (rather than due to not flying BA) that this would have been more correct?
The OP was eligible for the BA Lounge in ORD, albeit it was reported a ton of times that some BA Lounges in the USA ( with PHL being the top-leader of complaints ) constantly denying other eligible OW pax including BA Gold's and GGL's on other carriers stating capacity reasons and some reports here in FT showed us that agents could even go beyond and mention that the lounge is for BA pax only, etc... while it's a oneworld lounge.
Complaints to BA are usually acknowledged and the customer service department usually apologizes towards passengers; however no further action is taken as the situation is the same for at least the past 5-6 years.
