I have been to ORD for years and have never had the need to use the people mover previously as I had always started in ORD and the shuttles dropped us off directly at T5.

If you're arriving in T2 on a domestic there's also an airside bus to T5 from T1 or T3: https://www.flychicago.com/ohare/Ser...Pages/tbt.aspx which lets you avoid the ATS and having to reclear security
