Hi all, does anyone have any insight if/when it's possible to redeem VS miles for China Eastern (MU)-operated flights?

What I know so far:

• Virgin Atlantic's website says earning & spending with MU is not yet available, and MU flights don't show up on VS's website.
• When I asked about this, one of their online chat agents said it was generally possible to book SkyTeam award tickets with the contact center even if they don't show up online. However, she didn't find any availability for the particular flight & date that I requested.
  • She didn't mention anything special about MU vs. other SkyTeam partners. So maybe she didn't know that MU award bookings hadn't been integrated in their IT?
• The same award space is available on Flying Blue's website as well as China Eastern's own website. However, it's unavailable on KE and JL's websites.
  • Interestingly, KE, JL, AF/KL, and MU show consistent availability for the same flight on other dates.

So my questions are

1. Is it generally possible now to book MU-operated award flights with VS? If not, do you have a rough idea when it will open up?
2. Given the conflicting award availability information from MU, AF/KL, KE, and JL, how likely will it be that the particular flight & date I'm interested in will be available on VS once it opens up?
