I'm retired, so I'm rarely in a hurry when traveling. Unless I have to make a tight connection, I usually wait until most of the other passengers on the plane have disembarked before I try to gather my belongings. I don't particularly like standing up right away and then finding that I have to wait five minutes for the disembarkation line to start moving. No reason for me to hurry up and wait. I realize that a lot of FTers might feel differently about this.
As to whether the incidental bumping/jostling/touching which you experience after voluntarily placing yourself in a crowded situation constitutes battery, I'm reminded of Justice Potter Stewart's response when he was asked to define pornography: "I know it when I see it."
