I would say you are far from the minority. In addition to just screaming "cafeteria service", you also have to face the choice of either eating your entre first, while it is still at least warm. or eating appetizer and salad and then having a cold entre.
No matter what airline I’m flying, if the meal is served on one tray instead of in stages, I always eat the entree first.
