Athens isn't the ideal museum for visiting Europe's past (it's no Cinque Terre or Paris), but count me in as one of the group who's in love with the city as a place to live and visit in the present. What an incredible, vibrant and creative place it is. In a Western Europe where the cost of real estate development has priced out a lot of culture and entrepreneurialism, Athens is refreshing - and I totally get the reference to Berlin in the 90s made above (though for that accolade I'd be tempted to look more to Tirana, Almaty or Tbilisi before the Russian draft-dodgers rocked up).
