If there is availability you can call in to pay the difference in miles. Last minute F usually becomes available and I've been able to upgrade last minute many times.
As to whether it's worth it, that depends on how many miles you have and how much you value F.
Note only the HND-SFO is in F and the rest would be in J.
HND-SFO F serves Salon champagne which goes for $1k+ a bottle.
