I wonder what is the Hilton's long-term plan (if they have any, I suppose the shareholders don't care) with credit cards. Sure, it's a good business, but people will eventually notice that the status is useless on US/CAN market and then they'll stop paying for it.
When is that going to happen? The card has been out for over 5 years now (granted, some of those years were pretty abnormal to say the least). I don't find the status useless either. I have stayed some nice places with points/certificates that I would have never paid the nightly rate for (even been upgraded occasionally too, but that is not something that I really worry about or count on). I also find value in the credits, even if it isn't what most here want.
