Hilton Diamond in the US and Canada is essentially worthless. I parked in the special Diamond parking slot today. Whee! Granted there are no suites here and I paid a little extra for the "premium" room (top floor, bigger windows to admit more light and road noise in the early hours),
IHG Diamond is a new category but it got me a gigantic and ridiculous suite at a Holiday Inn (!!) in Ohio last month. I'm at a HI again next week in Downtown Montréal so we'll see if that status does anything more than it ever did for me at Hilton.
I had Hyatt Globalist last year. Meh. I didn't think it was any better than being a top-level member at Marriott/Hilton/IHG. Frankly I'm seeing more commonality in these programs every year, and their value growing less. I've converted all mine to earn AA LPs vs hotel points. I've got millions of hotel points that will probably die with me.
