I did indeed pay for the bulkheads. Maybe 100usd per, don't recall. But at the end of the day, if the 51/52 seats are going to be more comfortable for a 13 hour flight, that's an acceptable loss.

For my comment on J, I meant to say that we booked aisle and window seat, leaving J in the middle open, with the assumption that it would be less likely to fill, since the bulkhead seats have the premium. So, gambling on getting the space. Or, moving back to 51/52.
