Your 31 minute turnaround at YQB won't be a problem as you'll deplane at Gate 7 and then re-board at the same gate. However, weather can be a real concern at this time of year so any delay in leaving YYZ on 8600 or on the 8603 return leg can start to chew away at your connection time for your final YYZ-YVR flight at 1500.

well the trip would be booked as a whole would it not, thus assuming he's only using SWU's he'd get 500 miles on each segment for YYZ - YQB assuming no J service, he'll be at 6,194 miles for the trip. Make sure that for the YYZ - YQB segments you get a 319, which do serve the route depending on the time of the flight and you will be fine, otherwise you could fall a few miles short.
