I chuckle at a hotel's "upgrade" policy. For example, at one property I stay at, it is literally the same room on the North side of the property, rather than the South side. The North rooms have a slightly more upscale decor, but otherwise are exactly the same size and view. The one time I didn't automatically get upgrade, they put me next to a noisy family. So, I called the front desk and said this isn't going to work for me. They ended up "upgrading" me to the North side!
