If you are a regular guest then it is not unusual to get better upgrades, I certainly wouldn’t expect it otherwise. When I was Ambassador I mostly got same upgrades as now(RA) in regular Intercontinental
In other IHG brands I seem to get no upgrade just breakfast if I ask for it rather than points 🙈
