I am new to diamond status. Have long been a hyatt globalist and always got upgraded to best available room without a charge. Hhonors website suggests Hilton has a similar policy. Stayed at new Hilton in downtown Columbus, Oh and was told would only be upgraded one room category despite being better rooms available. Was told if wanted corner room on high floor would cost $15. Hyatt is actually getting similar now at many properties. The best room for Globalist is at properties’ sole discretion and many play games and give bad upgrades or cheat you out of standard suites.
