This is not just a Cathay issue.

While there are certainly many exceptions, the occurrence of superior service provided to Cantonese or English speakers and inferior service provided to Mandarin speakers is quite common in HK. Frankly, I am surprised that this pattern of behavior took so long to become an issue given the nationalist sentiment on mainland social media.

However, what I think really takes the cake is the quote “if you cannot speak blanket, you….” If you plan on making fun of someone’s language capabilities, you should probably take the time to use proper grammar

Hong Kong people looking down on mainlanders is nothing new. So I suppose that the takeaway is that the labor force must be really tight in the aviation market as it seems Cathay has had to resort to hiring idiots as it re-staffs its ranks.
