Tbh I can vaguely see that a complete novice may not understand how it normally works, but I would be surprised someone of your experience was unsure.
As mentioned above, I have not used Bag Drop (absolutely no experience ), and was hoping it was a way to be able to avoid the airport desk check-in process.
