Other than the Asian cuisine, which the Bay Area does just as well, LA food scene is much, much better.
And Angelinos love their food properly spiced up!

The problem, in my opinion, is that ALL airline - and airport lounge - food is intentionally made bland.
The airlines just don't want to deal with the small but loud subset of their customers that can't abide flavorful food; some for health reasons, some because they've never been exposed to sauces more exotic than ketchup, and some that simply like their food bland.
Another instance of (mostly) unintentional minority dictatorship stemming from our desire to have a gentler, kinder society that we can finally afford.
