I'm debating between a short stay in the fall at the Grande Bretagne for $410 USD/ night (base room- courtyard view) with an AMEX FHR rate vs. the Grand Hyatt for $175 USD/ night and 6,000 Hyatt points to upgrade to a Grand Suite which includes Club Access. It'll just be me, so I don't need the suite at the Grand Hyatt per se, but I felt it was a good value, especially due to the club access.
As I value Hyatt points at 1.5 cents each, it's $410 for the Grande Bretagne base room (I may get upgraded due to AMEX FHR and my Marriott Gold status, but I probably shouldn't count on it) vs. $265 for a suite at the Grand Hyatt. Is it worth an extra $145 USD/ night to stay at the Grande Bretagne? The Grande Bretagne definitely seems to get great reviews on TripAdvisor, and is highly recommended on Forbes as well. Thoughts?
