Having owned a Monos Carry-on Pro for three months now I have to say I can’t recommend. This is based on six international trips and three domestic…
Pros:
- I’ve warmed to the physical design and think it looks decent
- Wheels are very quiet and smooth
- Inclusion of shoe bags and laundry bags are a nice touch
Cons:
- Front pocket can hardly contain anything. I use a MacBook, possibly the thinest device going, and struggle to add much more. Forget a full sized laptop, no chance for electric plugs etc
- Front pocket takes up storage space inside the case
- Two stem handle takes up space inside the case on the other side
- The button for the handle is underneath. While this is used as a marketing feature and indeed looks better, it’s impractical since it’s prone to frequently pressing when dragging the case up kerbs etc
- There’s no locking mechanism for the zippers on the front pocket, other than using a padlock which devalues the look and high end feel
- The zips for the front pocket get caught in the gap between the main case and pocket area, making it difficult to zip up after opening
- Although appearing high quality at first I’m already noticing plastic looking worn
Customer service:
- While you get an email confirming placing an order on the website, they never are sent upon shipping etc and delivery is never when you expect
- After two months of use, one set of wheels broke. Logged a warrantee claim, had to chase it via email, no reply. Tweeted and got told to use Instagram. Finally got approved. A week later had to chase again by email with no reply. Chased via Instagram, only to be told no spare parts were in stock. Lots of message rely only for them to suddenly find some stock and expedite shipping.
Let’s see if the spare wheels do actually turn up. I’ve had to struggle on one trip without the thing pulling properly, and have another two trips before I hope they turn up.
For the price paid I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend.
