My neighbor's interpretation is that what will occur is end end of Swoop as a separate operating entity, but not necessarily as a consumer facing brand. The pilots don't care what color the plane is painted.
From a brand and route perspective, I would say that WestJet will cater to the LCC orientated routes and Sunwing to the ULCC ones in the future, with Swoop aircraft eventually migrating to Sunwing due to the same 189 seat -800 / MAX 8 config (Swoop pilots staying at WestJet until Sunwing is in the same bargaining unit).
