I reached out to them via Live Chat but I'm ticketed on AA stock (it was significantly cheaper), and the rep said they can't extend STPC on a flight sold/marketed by AA. I suppose I can understand that ... though I wonder if this is a hard-rule or a HUCA situation lol.
I think the flight must be marketed by QR to be eligible for STPC as per the policy page with the following example:
Arrival in Doha: QR639 (SIN-DOH)
Departure from Doha: ME 4437 / DOH-BEY: Flight operated by Qatar Airways and marketed by partner carrier.
STPC not permitted since DOH-BEY sector flight is not marketed by Qatar Airways
