I've been reading this thread trying to resolve something that confuses me, namely seeing people ahead of me on the F list also on the C+ list. Given that platinum and diamond can clear to C+ right after booking, all I can guess is that they booked so late there were no C+ seats left? Thankfully I'm usually pretty happy with an exit row seat anyway, but I still feel like I'm missing some secret to getting upgraded. I know being in ATL doesn't help, but others seem to get upgraded at least sometimes into/out of ATL.
A lot of times I have chosen an exit row seat rather than a middle seat in C+. Then, if a window or aisle doesn't up in C+, I'll be listed on the C+ upgrade list and the F upgrade list. It doesn't happen on every flight but it happens more often than I'd like to admit.
