Unfortunately there are so many potential technical specifications involved here (specific device, MacOS version, and who knows how many specs on the hotel’s end), it’s likely going to be difficult to get any guidance here.

But when traveling for work I’ve found it’s always good to be prepared with a backup, which is tethering to your phone.
