If you have lifetime totals of 250+ nights and 3+ full years of Diamond, you should be able to claim a Diamond extension in March 2024.

Otherwise I would indeed just drop to Silver then MVP fast track, status match, etc. to Gold or Diamond next year.

Gold is perfectly acceptable in most hotels in Asia and Europe - the only major difference is guaranteed lounge access vs. probable lounge access - so if you organically get to Gold I would just stick with that status for a year or two until your travels are back to normal...
