No clue why anyone would want to spend any more than 2-3 hours at JFK terminal 8, but it should be possible as long as you arrive during a time when the check-in counters are open.

Fairly certain you can check in luggage in the morning at HKG for a nighttime flight, but I highly doubt they'll let you do it at JFK considering that it's an outstation.l
