The current SOP here seems to be for the bike companies to do their relocating (to subway station entrances) and piling (on --off the beaten path-- land that they surely don't own) during the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure Shanghai and Nanjing have the same 3-4 companies, and I can't imagine they have different protocols there.
