It was only about $100 more and due to a couple of cancelled business trips earlier in the year I realized that I needed the extra .5 points/mile to re-qualify for my AA plat status... I cut it close this year with a lot of flying on other carriers.

The CX agent also pointed that out to me that I only needed the "H" fare to get AAdvantage miles and could save money. I figured maintaining my status was certainly worth $100, and so far I am not into MR's.
