My dear wife booked a night at HI Dijon using her Chase flexible free night from her Chase credit card. She received a confirmation mentioning the Rate Anniversary Night Flex night. However when looking at the reservation on the ihg site under her Stays it displays the rate as a Shareholder discount rate, with the price of 32.88 euros a night with a 5.28 tourist taxe. Very strange. She is not a shareholder and did not book it as a shareholder. And the free night remains in her wallet. What should we do? I can cancel the reservation and book with the free certificate again, maybe will we get the same result. Or we could take advantage of the cheap rate, the Flexible rate is 155 euro.
I am intrigued by the shareholder rate, reading the links provided in this thread including the link from loyaltylobby.com, I tried pricing a few different hotels in June, the discount is 13-19%, no deposit, 3 day cancellation.
Do you get points and night credit using the shareholder rate? Maybe it is worth the effort to become a shareholder.
