I checked with the Canadian Embassy & they confirmed that the visa will no longer be valid once the visa stamped passport expires.
it's also the case with Canadian eTA's which are passport specific.
I was eligible for 5 year schengen visa based on past visa's but got a 2 year only as my passport expires in 2025. They would not budge even though it's okay to have a schengen visa on an expired passport.
