Online checkin query re BA Codeshare on QR Metal
Quick question on online checkin possibilities please. I did ask on the QR forum but have had only one reply so far and departure window is fast approaching (Mon 22nd May) ... my son has his trip MAN-DOH-JRO on QR metal but booked through BA on BA codeshare flight numbers as I discussed up thread. I booked it from my own BAEC account to use up a BA voucher that might otherwise have expired. The trip is showing on his own BAEC account on ba.com and his own QR Privelige account on qatarairways.com and their respective apps with the same PNR. All good so far - he can see the trip in multiple places, all with the same PNR and same flight details.
When he wants to check in online, can he do it through BA or QR or is he limited to BA since they are all BA coded flights or limited to QR since it is QR metal?
The BA website suggests that both airline's websites can be used for checkin but doesn't address the specific codeshare question and may, of course, be out of date ...https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb...-qatar-airways
I believe that QR online checkin opens 48 hours before flight but BA is only 24 hours before flight. He is travelling in Y and we have not purchased a seat in advance, so I am wondering if he can check in through QR at T-48 and get a seat choice without charge 24 hours before the BA option? If he does checkin through QR will that flow back into BA systems OK to show him as checked in with the relevant seat assignments, or will BA's rubbish IT systems have a fit and cause him a problem thinking he has not checked in on ba.com and thus mark him as a no-show and cancel future legs, including his return JRO-DOH-MAN two weeks later?
