Thanks percysmith This isn't clear to me from reading the card T&Cs which say "Enjoy an exclusive extra 1.2% RewardCash (3X) automatically on all categories of the Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice programme". I don't see the clause that puts a limit on that. And I don't see any clause which makes it conditional on me actually signing up for the Red Hot Rewards of Your Choice programme. From my reading of the website/T&Cs it still seems that I should get the extra 1.2% on all merchants which fall within any of the categories of that programme regardless. I will email my relationship manager for confirmation and report back.
