For teachers, like doctors, there’s no such thing as an odd (or stupid) question. I’ll be staying at this hotel for the first time next week, driving into the city for the umpteenth time, called front desk just now, valet parking only, pull up to 56th Street entrance and “doorman will take it from there”. Be advised, driving in NYC is not for the faint of heart , think of it as a seemingly endless game of "chicken" .

Just read the quote below on Tripadvisor. Haven’t read a reference to a “lounge” elsewhere, including this thread. Please advise. Thank you.
… we asked the lady at checkout if we could hang out in the third floor lounge for an hour after checkout while we waited for our taxi to the airport. The (very nice) receptionist asked her manager, who was also at the checkout desk, and she said 'the lounge is for checked in guests only' -
