There will definitely be whales in the area...February is peak season. Easier to see in the morning, as the northerly winds can make the water choppy in the afternoon. But you will be able to see them all day. Lots of them. Book a high floor room.
Better yet, book a whale watch out of Lahaina. Even more whales off Lahaina.
