We’ve been going to Athens every 2 years for 5 nights for the last 2 decades.

As a lifetime Diamond Honors member, I was 100% with large suite upgrades facing the Acropolis at the Athens Hilton. The breakfast down stairs was fantastic (I miss Sophie’s pies) and the executive lounge on the almost top floor was great with snacks throughout the day, complimentary beer and wine. The Galaxy Bar was the place to be on the rooftop! I understand how people like the Syntagma Square location better. We never minded walking from the Hilton to the Plaka or Syntagma, sometimes even stopping at the GB for a drink along the way! Redemptions at the Hilton were very inexpensive for a night, usually around 50k/night. Of course, we would stay 5 nights and get one night free. Subway right there, easy to use, or walk through Kolonaki and enjoy the beautiful neighborhood.

About 10 years ago I switched mostly to Marriott because of the abundant locations in major cities mostly in Italy. As an Ambassador and Lifetime Titanium using SNAs, I have never received a suite upgrade at the GB (have stayed 3-4 different times now). Staying at GB again later in the fall. We shall see.
